The Experience of Suicide Prevention Online Counseling

Abstract
The goal of this present qualitative study is to understand the experience of suicide prevention online counseling using a phenomenological research method. For this research a comprehensive review of the professional and research literature was conducted, and a series of semi-structured interviews of 8 counselors and 2 supervisors, who had been working for an online counseling center, was conducted. To compare the answers of the participants and to assure the reliability of the study a content analysis of 100 counseling texts on the web site from January 3, 2011 to April 18, 2011 was conducted.
Based on the research 87 formulated meanings, 30 themes, and 8 theme clusters have been categorized. The essence of experience of counselors¡¯ suicide prevention online counseling was compared with ¡°Guh -Rang -E -Jill¡±, which is the skill of Korean ancestor architectures. Finally, it has been suggested that the policy should be developed to increase the
intervention to prevent suicide and support the systems of the intervention. Further research and more education should be conducted on suicide prevention online counseling.
